WHAT TO EXPECT when you get here...

A real Texas cafe, pleasing Heights families, musicians, artists, business executives, even attorneys, with sleeves rolled up and ties tucked in their shirts, since 1087.  The exceptional Texas Comfort foods served with Texas hospitality keep them coming back for more.

There's still free live acoustic music on weekends. In the early days the streets were pretty empty after dark.  The music attracted a crowd then, and the tradition still does!

Houston Heights Tours

Hickory Hollow has teamed up with Houston Heights Tours for fun, "light hearted" outings. Tours of the Houston Heights are guided by Dean Swanson, a long time Heights resident and Chairman of the Heights Historic Committee.

Dean's groups have included visiting dignitaries and diplomats, church and garden groups, Red Hat Ladies, men's organizations, art enthusiasts and antique hunters.

See the "hidden gems" of this historic Victorian neighborhood and hear "tales of the Houston Heights" from expert tour guide Dean Swanson. Along the way you will enjoy a delicious lunch at Hickory Hollow Restaurant, a Heights tradition.

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to the staff at the Heights Restaurant for the excellent meals and outstanding service for our Messiah Lutheran Church Young at Heart Day-Trippers on March 29th.  The hospitality started with our morning coffee while meeting our docent Mr. Dean Swanson for the Heights bus tour.  Your manager, Arnie, met with us for a few minutes to explain the menu and for us to ask questions about our noon accommodations.  We were met with at noon with smiles and very good and fast service for our group of 36 seniors!!  Your facility definitely is one of the top restaurants we have visited in almost 9 years of monthly tour outings.  I’m very sure that many of our group will be returning individually whenever they are in your area.  Again, thank you for offering such great service!
